Introduction

Finding accommodation in Sweden can be very tough, especially in larger cities such as Stockholm and Goteborg. Start to search as soon as possible. You can look for student housing or contact international student mobility office through your administrator for a house. If you cannot or do not want to live in student housing, you can find room or flat in the private market. Beware of frauds!! More information on housing can be found here. There are several websites where you can search for housing such as blocket.se, boplats.se, housinganywhere and several Facebook groups. On blocket.se and Facebook marketplace, you can find second-hand furniture, bikes, electronics and lots of other things.

Housing Companies

Most of the rental flats in Sweden are controlled and managed by housing service companies. You need to be in the housing queue to get a ‘first-hand contact’ form these companies. Some companies might charge you to be in the queue. The longer you are in the queue, the higher the chances to get a ‘first-hand contact’.

Student Housing Companies

For queuing in student housing companies, you need to be a student and in cases must be registered to student union.

Private Housing Companies

Anyone with a Personal Number can register here. Sometimes, you can register even before having a personal number. Please read the details throughly before registering.
