ID card

As soon as you receive your personnummer, do not forget to apply for your Swedish ID card. You will need this card constantly, so always carry it.

Why do you need a swedish ID card?

• To open a bank account. Banking
• To collect your parcels at post offices or delivery points (You can also use your passport).
• Proving age at a Bar/ Systembolaget.

<aside> 💡 Swedish ID-kort is only valid in Sweden. If you plan to go out of the country, do not forget to carry your passport and residence permit.

It costs 400 SEK to apply for the ID-kort. More information is available here.

How to apply

1. Make an online appointment
2. Pay the application fee
3. Go to the nearest Skatteverket office that issues ID card.
